Happy Birthday Jesus, and Merry Christmas to all my fellow readers 😀.       It feels like it's been forever since I've done a post, but this month has just been so crazy with all the preparations for Christmas. One of my New Years resolutions is to get this blog on a regular updating schedule, and I have lots of posts I'm planning for the next couple weeks including a best books I read in 2015 post. Today I just wanted to pop by and wish everyone a Merry Christmas, and I hope everyone has an amazing holiday no matter how you're spending it! I'm looking forward to growing my blog in  2016, and I can't wait to continue this journey with all my fellow book lovers

I've been enjoying starting my baking, and getting some gifts wrapped today, but I thought I would take a quick break from doing so to review a book I was highly anticipating reading, Love Water Memory Jennie Shortridge I received this book for Christmas last year from my hubby, and it one of the books I was most excited about reading. I had seen it at Shoppers Drug Mart one day while we were doing some Christmas shopping, and the synopsis really intrigued me. Last summer during one of the crazy sales that Book Outlet put on, I came across the Scarlett Wakefield series by Lauren Henderson, and I was instantly intrigued. I had previously read Flirting in Italian by her, and I thought it was a cute read, that had a much deeper plotline than I was originally expecting, and I had been wanting to give some more of her books a try. Since with the crazy sale going on, the whole series (which includes four books), would cost less than ten dollars, I decided to go ahead and order all of them, not knowing much about it, other than they were kind of a mystery series. I'm embarrassed to admit that it took me over a year to get around to finishing this series, as I have a bad habit of buying a ton of books all at once, and then taking forever to finish them all, but once I did get around to reading them, I fell completely in love with the series as a whole, and it left me with a major book hangover at the end. I know we're definitely enjoying the abnormal warm temperatures we've been having lately, although everyone's hoping and praying that we will still see snow for Christmas, as it just doesn't seem the same without it. I've been super busy with shopping, wrapping, decorating and baking, but amongst all the crazy things I love about Christmas, one of my favorite Christmas traditions is taking part in Operation Christmas Child. Growing up, we may not have been what anyone would ever call wealthy, but my parents always instilled in us the importance of giving back. And one of their favorite ways to do this was with having each of us take part in Operation Christmas Child. Good morning fellow booklovers :) I can't believe how long it's been since I last sat down to do a blog post. Unfortunately I've been battling a nasty virus for the last couple of weeks that has literally left me with next to no energy to do anything aside from my regular job, and keeping up with the housework around here. Hello all my fellow readers :) It's November 11th, and I want to start this blog post by thanking all the men and women who are currently serving or have served, they are all true heroes, and I'm thankful we have a holiday devoted to all of them. I hope everyone is having a great week. I am here today with my October 2015 wrap up. October, for me, was not the greatest of reading months. I only managed to finish ten novels and one novella, due to an insane work schedule, and trying to get some home renovation projects done before the snow comes. Speaking of snow, we got a huge helping of it this week. Over ten cm fell on Monday evening. and so far it looks like it is here to stay. I'm not usually the biggest fan of snow, but I have to say that I love curling up with a book in front of our Christmas tree, and seeing all the trees in our yard covered with a perfect white, sparkly snow. To anyone who read my last blog post, it is no secret just how much I loved Rebel Belle by Rachel Hawkins. While reading it however, there is a passage where the main character Harper Price is baking a hummingbird cake to give as a gift, and I was instantly intrigued. It happens to me quite often while reading books, that I am suddenly inspired to try making what they are having for dinner, breakfast, lunch or dessert, as it always sounds so yummy. This is often a frequent occurrence after reading Debbie Macomber's books, particularly her Cedar Cove series, and after reading The Mother Daughter Book Club by Heather Vogel Frederick, I quickly decided that baked macaroni and cheese needed to be on the menu for dinner. However, hummingbird cake was something I was completely unfamiliar with. I had no idea what this particular kind of cake even consisted of, and so I was off on a recipe hunt to find out what exactly this amazing sounding cake was. I researched several amazing sou

When I picked up Rebel Belle by Rachel Hawkins, I basically knew two main things about it: 1) It was written by Rachel Hawkins. That in itself was a good enough reason for me to buy this book in my opinion, as I am a huge fan of her previous books. I loved, loved, loved the Hex Hall series, and I'm still beyond disappointed that the spin off series. School Spirits, has so far not had more than the one book. 2) It is about a girl from the south, who although is prim and proper, also becomes a Paladin. Now when I first heard this book was going to be a book with a bit of a paranormal or fantasy twist, but whose main character was going to be a southern type debutante, I literally freaked out. To anyone who's not aware, I have a slight obsession with the Southern States, that often drives my husband bonkers. I love hearing about cotillions, and debutante balls, and even sororities, as none of those are found anywhere around where we live. From those two points, I had a

Snow Like Ashes by Sara Raasch is a book I've had recommended to me more times than I count. I, however, had so many amazing sounding books sitting in my TBR pile, that I just hadn't gotten around to reading it. Then my husband surprised me with bringing it back with him when he'd been  away on a business trip. He had told me that he wanted to surprise me with bringing back a book,  and when he saw this one in chapters he remembered me telling him about it many, many times, so he grabbed it and I couldn't wait to start reading it. Good Morning all my fellow booklovers, and a happy belated Thanksgiving to all my fellow Canadians :) I had mentioned in a previous post that my family was planning on doing something special for this year's Thanksgiving, something a lot different than we usually do. My mom and I are both big on homemade type of people, holidays almost always consist of a big family gathering, an amazing home cooked meal, and spending lots of quality time together. This year however, we decided to do things a little different. My mom and my stepdad went on a big trip this fall, leaving our hometown on September 3rd, and not arriving home until early October. With them being gone, and my hubby and I only moving into our house at the beginning of September, we knew Thanksgiving might be done a little differently. Hey Everybody. I had several blog posts planned for the last couple of weeks, but unfortunately I had computer issues. My laptop didn't want to upload any new pictures, and as such, I couldn't get any of my blog posts up. Thank goodness I have a hubby who understands electronics, and was able to fix the issue. So today's post will be my (late) September wrap up. September was kind of a crazy reading month for me as we took possession of our house on the first of the month, and all the joys of packing, cleaning, unpacking, organizing, etc, etc.....kind of prevented me from getting to a lot of the books in my TBR pile. However, I did read twenty five books in September, and discovered some new favorites. The books will be listed by the rating I gave them on goodreads, from least stars to most. Hello Everyone. Hope everyone is having a great week so far. I know here in Canada we're starting to prepare for Thanksgiving, which is always one of my favorite holidays as fall is my favorite season. This year my family has special plans for it, which I will be sharing here later on, but for today's post I'm going to talk about my progress so far with 2015 Pop Sugar Reading Challenge :) To anyone who is unfamiliar with this particular challenge, here is the link to the original page http://www.popsugar.com/love/Reading-Challenge-2015-36071458 Basically, it's a reading challenge that includes fifty items on a list you need to complete by reading a book that fits with each item. I only discovered the challenge in May, and as such, am not sure if I will be finished by December 31st, but I'm really enjoying being a part of it, And I've loved how it's opened the door for me to books I may never have chosen to read without it, that I've ended up loving.
