Christmas In July: Christmas Book Recommendations

Hello fellow readers, I hope everyone had a great weekend, and that everyone's enjoying their summer. :) I want to make a confession today on my blog. I'm an absolute sucker when it comes to Christmas. There's nothing that I love more than that time of the year, and I tend to lose myself in the baking, decorating, shopping, watching Hallmark movies, listening to Christmas songs, etceta etcetra. However, Christmas in July is something that I've never really gotten into. I think this is partly due to the fact that it's hard to think about Christmas amidst the horrible heat and humidity we typically experience in July, but I've been seeing a lot of advertisements for Christmas in July around my town, and throughout the internet this week, and so, I decided to do a post today for Christmas in July. I absolutely love Christmas books! This tradition has carried over from when I was a child and loved nothing more than The Polar Express, The Nutcracker, and many,

Books I'm Taking With My On Vacation :)

Happy Tuesday Guys! As I'm sure many of you are aware, Tuesday is not a normal posting day for me. However, things are going to be a tad different on my blog this week, and that's because  I'm finally going on vacation this week! We're actually leaving today, and I'm so excited to have a few days off from work to spend with my family. While I'm definitely going to miss my hubby and my kitten, I'm looking forward to getting back to the resort that my family always stayed at when I was younger, as it's been a few years since I've been back, and I'm also looking forward to getting to take my nephew to Calaway Park and the Calgary Zoo, as it will be his first time visiting both. As we will probably not have internet for at least part of the trip, I've decided to not post my usual Wednesday and Friday posts, and instead just take the time to enjoy summer with my family. I did feel bad though just doing one post this week, so I decided to do

Winning by Lara Deloza Review

Hey guys, Today I'm here to do a review of a book that I finished this week, and that is, Winning by Lara Deloza.                                                  Pub Date: June 28th, 2016                                                  Publisher: HarperTeen                                                  Source: Library                                                   Summary: Whoever said being nice would get you to the top? Certainly not Alexandra Miles. She isn't nice, but she's more than skilled at playing the part. She floats through the halls of Spencer High, effortlessly orchestrating the actions of everyone around her, making people bend to her whim without even noticing they're doing it. She is the queen of Spencer High-and it's time to make it official. Alexandra has a goal, you see-Homecoming Queen. Her ambitions are far grander than than her small town will allow, but homecoming is just the first step achieving total domination. S

Current Library Haul :)

Happy Monday Guys! I know it's the start of another work week, and that shouldn't necessarily be so exciting. However, I'm excited today for two main reasons: 1) I'm actually going on vacation with my family next week for a few days, and I can't even describe how excited I am about it. While we're definitely not going anywhere fancy, it's actually been quite a long time since I went on vacation with my family at all, and I know we're going to have an amazing time! 2) I'm also excited because today I'm going to talk about something on my blog today that I don't normally talk about, and that's going to be all about just how much I love my local library, and how much I love supporting it. While I'm not going to lie on my blog and say that I don't buy a lot of books, because let's be honest guys, by the book hauls I post on here, you all know that I definitely buy a lot of books. However, because of how fast I go through

Bedtime Book Tag

Happy Friday Guys! Is everyone as ready for the weekend as I am? I feel this week has been super crazy, and has left me with not a lot of time for blogging, and so I decided to do another tag blog post. However, don't worry, because it's a really fun tag, and I think this will be still a really enjoyable post! Today's tag is called the Bedtime Book Tag, and it was created by Kelly's BookSpill on youtube, and is such a fun tag, that as soon as I discovered it, I knew I wanted to take part in it. :) 1) What Book Kept You Up All Night Reading? The Summer I Turned Pretty series by Jenny Han. I was literally so into these stories, that I ended up finishing the whole trilogy over a weekend, and I remember staying up till three am to finish It's Not Summer Without You, and then waking up super early after that to start on We'll Always Have Summer.  2) What Book Made You Scared To Go To Sleep? Last Words by Mariah Stewart. Oh my goodness this book was ins

Top 5 Wednesday: Books You Wish Had Sequels

Hi guys, I'm really excited for this week's Top 5 Wednesday topic: Books You Wish Had Sequels (Standalones that you wish had a sequel or the last book in a series that you wish wasn't the last). For anyone unfamiliar with Top 5 Wednesday, it's a weekly meme that was created by Lainey from gingerreadslainey on Youtube, and is now moderated by Sam from Thoughts On Tomes, also from Youtube. The group communicates through goodreads, and here's the link to the page if you're interested in learning more about it. https://www.goodreads.com/group/show/118368-top-5-wednesday This topic was a really fun one to do, as there's been many times that I've finished a story, and instantly longed to hear more about the amazing characters I'd just fallen completely in love with.  Here's my five pics: 1) The Vampire Stalker by Alison Van Diepen: Pretty much right from when I first opened this book, I was drawn completely into this amazing world tha

Unpopular Opinions Book Tag

Hey Guys! I hope everyone had a great weekend, and is excited to start off another week! While watching Booktube over the weekend, I stumbled across the Unpopular Opinions Book Tag, and I thought it looked like a lot of fun. So that's going to be my post for today. This Tag was created by TheBookArcher on Youtube, and here's the link to her original video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NYfgq8HgDc0&feature=youtu.be 1) A Popular Book Or Series That You Didn't Like: Right from when I first started reading The Fifth Wave by Rick Yancey, I honestly couldn't understand why so many people raved about it. I found it a tad on the boring side, and I think a large reason I disliked it so much was the constant skipping of perspectives. It just felt like there was way too many main characters, and that definitely hindered my enjoyment of this book. After finishing the first, I had no urge to continue on with the rest of the series, and I really can't see that

The Problem With Forever by Jennifer L Armentrout Review

Happy Friday guys! I hope everyone's as excited for the weekend as I am. :) I'm here today to post my review on Jennifer L Armentrout's The Problem With Forever.                                                          Pub Date: May 17th, 2016                                                         Publisher: Harlequin Teen                                                         Source: Library                                                           Summary: For some people. silence is a weapon. For Mallory "Mouse" Dodge, it's a shield. Growing up she learned that the best way to survive was to say nothing. And even though it's been four years since her nightmare ended, she's beginning to worry that the fear that holds her back with last a lifetime. Now, after years of homeschooling with loving adoptive parents, Mallory must face a new milestone-spending her senior year at public high school. But of all the terrifying and exhilar

Top 5 Wednesday: Favorite Books Outside Your Comfort Zone

Hello All My Fellow Readers :) It's Wednesday once again, and that means of course that it's time for another Top 5 Wednesday Post. For anyone who's unfamiliar with Top 5 Wednesday, it is a weekly meme created by Lainey from gingerreadslainey on Youtube, and is now hosted by Sam from Thoughts On Tomes, also from Youtube. The group communicates through goodreads, and here's the link if you're wanting to learn more about it: https://www.goodreads.com/group/show/118368-top-5-wednesday One thing I really love about being part of Top 5 Wednesday is that it gets me thinking about topics that I probably otherwise wouldn't have. This week's topic, Favorite Books Outside Your Comfort Zone, is definitely an example of this. I read across such a wide range of genres, that I hadn't actually ever considered myself to have a "reading comfort zone," but after starting to work on this post, I discovered that there is definitely books I've picked u

Middle Grade Recommendations

Hey guys, I hope everyone had a great weekend, and that all of my fellow Canadians ended up enjoying their holiday! As well, I wanna say a big Happy Independence Day to all my American readers, and I hope you guys are all enjoying your holiday.  My weekend was really long, between work and accompanying my nephew and his best friend to our local fair, but it was a fun weekend, and I enjoyed the opportunity to get to spend time with some of my family. :) Today, I'm deviating a little bit from my typical reviews, hauls, recaps, and booktags, and instead I want to do a recommendation post.  While everyone knows that YA is my absolute favorite genre, I do still enjoy venturing into other genres, and one of these is middle grade. While I'm definitely not the target age range for this genre, there's many books that have become personal favorites, and I'm excited to share five of these with you guys today. 1) The Kingdom Keepers Series by Ridley Pearson: I hav

June 2016 Wrap Up!

Happy Canada Day To All My Fellow Canadians :) How's everyone enjoying the long weekend? Neil and I have both been working, and will be working straight through, so unfortunately we don't have any really exciting plans. That's okay too though, as it means I've had more time to work on my TBR pile. I literally cannot believe that it's already July. I feel like June always seems to be a month that goes by quickly, and that was definitely the case for me again this year. Today I wanted to go ahead and do my June 2016 Wrap Up Post. I discovered some amazing books this month, some really good books, and some books I wasn't unfortunately too crazy for, and I'm excited to tell you guys all about it. :) One Star Books: Thankfully this month I once again had no one star books!! Two Star Books: These are the books that I found at least one quality I liked about it, but I didn't overall enjoy, and would not recommend to anyone else, or ever reread
