Marry Me At Christmas by Susan Mallery Review

Happy Monday Everyone :)

And Happy Thanksgiving to all my fellow Canadians.

We actually had our family thanksgiving at my mom's yesterday, as that worked out better for everyone's schedules, and it was a wonderful day. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday after Christmas of course, and I always enjoy just having some down time for visiting, eating delicious food, and watching holiday movies.

And speaking of holiday movies, we're literally so close to the start of Hallmark Channel's Countdown to Christmas. And this last week, I finally got the chance to read Susan Mallery's Marry Me At Christmas, which is of course being adapted as one of Hallmark's Christmas movies this year.

I really adored this book, and it's definitely one of my favorites in the Fool's Gold series. I definitely wanted to share my thoughts about it with all of you guys, so let's go ahead and quickly review it.

Marry Me At Christmas by Susan Mallery:

Source: Library

Publisher: Harlequin

Publication Date: September 29th, 2015

Synopsis:

Wish upon a Christmas star with New York Times bestselling author Susan Mallery's sparkling Fool's Gold romance!

To bridal boutique owner Madeline Krug, organizing a Christmas wedding sounds like a joy—until she finds out she'll be working closely with the gorgeous brother of the bride, movie star Jonny Blaze. How will a small-town girl like her keep from falling for the world's sexiest guy? Especially with mistletoe lurking around every corner!

Jonny came to Fool's Gold looking for normal, not for love. Happily-ever-after only happens in the movies. Still, nothing about this quirky town is quite what he expected, and "ordinary" Madeline is the most extraordinary woman he's ever met. Refreshingly honest, disarmingly sweet. Achingly beautiful.

Planning the perfect wedding leads to candlelit dinners and strolls through snow-covered streets. And Madeline finds Jonny in real life even more captivating than her celebrity crush. But will the action star be brave enough to risk his heart and step into the role of a lifetime?

My Review:

Marry Me At Christmas is book nineteen in Susan Mallery's beloved Fool's Gold series, and it's the book in the series that I've been anxiously anticipating reading the most. On top of the fact that it's plot follows one of my favorite tropes in fiction, the famous person falling for the regular person, but also because the other Christmas novels in this series have been my personal favorites. However, considering I really haven't enjoyed the last five or six books in this series, I wasn't sure if it would end up living up to the expectations I'd given it in my mind or not.

Right from the start, I found myself really enjoying both the main characters. Madeline has of course been mentioned in previous books, and I really enjoyed her small town, girl next door personality, and the way she's fought so hard to find a career that she truly feels is where she belongs. Jonny was exactly the type of male lead I've been waiting to see in Fool's Gold, and he's definitely my favorite male protagonist in this series so far. I enjoyed the way he's drawn to Madeline right from day one, but is insistent on keeping her at an arm's length, due to the pressures and hardships he knows will come from anyone getting involved with him.

Jonny and Madeline's friendship of course first develops from her helping him plan his sister's wedding, and I really enjoyed watching this play out. Not only is Madeline willing to put aside her big time Hollywood crush to help Jonny in his time of need, but she's also the first person willing to recognize his tendencies to spoil the people he cares about with material things, rather than giving them the love and affection they'd much rather desire from him in the first place.

Marry Me At Christmas was exactly what I was hoping it would be and more. A heartwarming, holiday tale full of loving families, a beautifully developed romance, and lots of hysterical antics to keep me hooked from one page to the next. As always, it was nice to reconnect with old favorite characters like Mayor Marsha, Felicia, and Larissa, and I enjoyed getting to experience another Christmas in Fool's Gold. I gave this particular novel four out of five stars, and I look forward to seeing how Hallmark adapts it for the small screen this holiday season!

Thanks so much for reading guys, and I hope you're all enjoying a lovely thanksgiving with your loved ones!!
