Then Came You by Becky Wade Review

Happy Monday Everyone :)

Sometimes there's nothing I love more than diving into a new series by a favorite author, and it's even better when you discover that the prequel novella in the new series is a free read on Kindle and Ibooks.

As many of you know, Becky Wade is one of my all time favorite authors as I love her warm, inviting writing style, and the way she writes about Christian characters that aren't perfect. I adored her Porter Family series, which I've talked about a lot on my blog, and I couldn't wait to start her Bradford Sisters series. However before I could, I needed to read the prequel novella to the series titled, Then Came You, and today I'd like to share what I thought about it with all of you guys.

Then Came You by Becky Wade:

Source: Free IBook

Publication Date: March 7th, 2017

Genre: Inspirational Fiction

Synopsis:

A leather-bound journal. A single father. A woman in pursuit of freedom.

Garner Bradford, heir to the troubled Bradford Shipping empire, doesn't know much about babies. But he's going to have to learn fast because he's just become a single father to his newborn daughter. As he confesses through his journal entries, he's not entirely sure how to keep a newborn alive, whether or not he'll ever patch together his shattered heart, or how to forgive himself for his mistakes.

Career girl Kathleen Burke is wholly uninterested in settling down. She has big dreams, and none of them include Garner and his small hometown in Washington State. Yet she can't seem to get her handsome boss out of her head or her heart. There's something extraordinarily tempting about his beautifully sad green eyes. . . .

Told through journal entries, phone conversations, and letters, Then Came Youis a unique, heart-stirring romance novella by acclaimed author Becky Wade.

My Review:

Then Came You took a while longer than Becky's books usually do to catch my attention, but I ended up being pleasantly surprised with this short novella. Garner Bradford goes through his fair share of heartache throughout the course of the story, and I really came to admire his character, and the way he learns to trust his Heavenly Father, and go the extra mile to give his young daughters the life they deserve. On the other end of the story, Kathleen Burke is a career woman who knows she's destined for great things, and is anxiously awaiting her big break. The romance that develops between the two of them was definitely not typical, and not what I was really expecting but I found it to be heartwarming, and although I started out not really caring for Kathleen's character, she definitely won me over before the end. Without a doubt though, my favorite part of this novella was the fact that it's told entirely in epistolary style, as it's not something I see too terribly often. I really enjoyed reading the letters, phone calls, journals and miscellaneous entries that form the main content of this short story,  especially the ones concerning Kathleen's mom as they were hysterically funny.

Overall, I thought this was a great introduction to the Bradford Sisters series, and even though it was short, it had just as much emotion and depth as Becky's full length novels do. Once again, Becky Wade definitely did not disappoint, and I rated this one four out of five stars! I'm looking forward to reading this new series by her, and I have a feeling I'm going to end up loving it just as much as I did with the Porter Family series.

Thanks so much for reading guys! Have a great rest of your day, and I'll see you all again on Wednesday for more bookish content!
