Rescue Team by Candace Calvert Review

Happy Monday Everyone :) I hope everyone's week is off to a great start, and I want to thank you all for joining me today on The Preppy Book Princess. About a week and a half ago, I unfortunately had just finished reading three books in a row that all got two stars from me-something that honestly doesn't happen that often. I decided to pick up Candace Calvert's Rescue Team from my tbr pile, in the hope of finding an amazing read to get me out of my two star book slump, and I'm happy to say I was definitely not disappointed. I reviewed the first book, Trauma Plan,   in her Grace Medical series a few months back and you can find that review here.  Rescue Team by Candace Calvert: Source: Church Library Publisher: Tyndale House Publishers Publication Date: May 1st, 2013 Genre: Inspirational Fiction/Medical Drama Synopsis: Tired of running from her past, nurse Kate Callison intends to become Austin Grace Hospital's permanent ER director and make

Rare Times I Preferred The Movie To The Book

Happy Friday Everyone :) Who else is beyond excited for the weekend? For some reason this week seemed to be even more stressful than normal, which is weird considering Neil and I actually had gotten away for a couple of days this week. Oh well, maybe that's why the remaining days seemed additionally stressful-cause I was catching up on everything that piled up at work while we were gone. For today's post I want to do something a little bit different than normal, and something I've never done on my blog before today. Everyone knows that the book is generally better than the movie. In fact I'm quite fond of the awesome quote that says "never judge a book by its movie." And every booknerd knows the agony of excitedly heading to the theater to see the adaptation based off of your favorite book, only to leave disappointed with the scenes, characters, and other good stuff that got left out. One particular instance of this for me was when I first saw New

Forever My Girl by Heidi McLaughlin Review

Hello Everyone :) I hope you're all doing well, and thank you for joining me for another book review here on The Preppy Book Princess. This past February, my hubby and I had the pleasure of seeing Forever My Girl in theatres, and I completely adored it. I loved the sweet story, the characters, the beautiful portrayal of a second chance romance, and of course, the setting of the South. Since I'm a book person, I knew I needed to pick up the book that the movie was based off, and I couldn't wait to do so. However, it ended up not being quite what I was originally expecting, and today I'm here to share my thoughts and opinions about it with all of you guys. Forever My Girl by Heidi McLaughlin: Source: Library Publisher: Create Space Independent Publishing Platform Publication Date: December 27th, 2012 Genre: Contemporary/New Adult Synopsis: I was never supposed to be a rock star. I had my life all planned out for me. Play football in college.

Spring Book Haul 2018

Happy Monday Everyone :) I'm so excited that spring is finally showing its face here! We've finally been having some gorgeous temps, and it's much appreciated. However, I know better than anyone to get my hopes up as our crazy Saskatchewan weather may change at a moment's notice. In the meantime though, I'll be soaking up the sun while curling up with some of the amazing new books I've picked up during the last couple of weeks, and I'm excited to share those books with you all today. It's actually been quite awhile since I last posted a book haul, and that's simply because I hadn't really bought any books since my birthday. I was kind of on a self-imposed book buying ban, and I find I always appreciate book shopping even more after I come off of such a ban. Here's the goodies I picked up: First things first, I had enough plum points from Indigo to cash in for a twenty dollar redemption, and I decided to pick up Cascade by Li

Jane Austen Inspired Recommendations

Happy Friday Everyone :) I hope you're all looking forward to the weekend, and I want to thank you all once again for joining me here today on The Preppy Book Princess. For today's post I wanted to do something a little different. I'm sure there is lots of you out there who are also huge Jane Austen fans. While I've only read Pride and Prejudice so far, it's one of my all time favorites, and I definitely consider Jane Austen one of my favorite authors. And it's interesting to note just how many authors have been so influenced by her work that they've taken inspiration from her stories, and from her herself to create their own amazing stories. So for today's post I thought it would be fun to share with all of you guys some of the Jane Austen inspired books I've had the pleasure of reading over the last eight years or so, just in case any of you are looking for some fun Jane Austen inspired novels to pick up and dive into. Authors from a

Live Original by Sadie Robertson Book Review

Happy Wednesday Everyone:) Thanks so much for joining me today on The Preppy Book Princess. I've admitted in a few posts recently that I was never really a fan of Christian non-fiction books before. I consistently read devotion books as part of my daily routine, but other than that, I never really picked up any other ones as I had the misconceived idea that I'd find them kind of boring. However, with all the hatred and horrible darkness that's in society and our world today, I'd decided that this year I want to really dive into this genre to hopefully add a little more inspiration and light into my life. So far I'm really thankful I made this decision, as I've read some pretty amazing books, and I'd like to share my thoughts and opinions about one of the ones I finished recently with all of you today. Falling For You by Becky Wade

Happy Monday Everyone :) I hope you're all having a great week so far, and I want to thank you all for joining me today on The Preppy Book Princess. Let me ask you all, is there anything more exciting than your favorite author releasing a new book? Why yes, yes there is! What's even more exciting is having the opportunity to advance read your favorite author's new book before the release date, as I was lucky enough to get to do so with Becky Wade's upcoming release. I honestly don't think this incredible lady could write a bad book if she tried, and each and every book she releases is more amazing than the last. I couldn't wait to share what my thoughts on Falling For You with all you guys, and make sure ya'll mark your calendar for May 1st as this book is one you are definitely not going to want to miss. I Love Spring Book Tag

Happy Friday Everyone :)  I hope you're all having a good week, and that you're looking forward to the weekend. Even though it's still pretty frigid in Saskatchewan, I'm definitely going to remain optimistic that spring will eventually find its way over to us, and so I'm going to go ahead and do the I Love Spring Book Tag today. This was created by MySecretBookClub, and it looks like a really fun tag to do :) 1) How Is Spring Where You Live? Definitely frigid, we're still getting snow and really horrible wind chills, and in fact, it's supposed to be snow again this weekend where I live :( 2) Most Anticipated Book Release This Spring? I feel like almost every book release that I'm excited about for 2018 is releasing in the spring. However, most of them I was lucky enough to get the arcs through NetGalley, and so I'm going to go with the only one on my list that I didn't get the arc of, and as such, am definitely counting down

Hey Guys I hope everyone's having a great week so far :) Thank you all for joining me for another book review here on The Preppy Book Princess. I've been focusing a lot of my reading time lately on Christian books, as I honestly feel with all the horrible things occurring everywhere in our world today, I need that extra little bit of inspiration in my life. One such book I read this past week was Life Just Got Real by Sadie Robertson with Cindy Coloma. It was just what I needed to pull me through a fairly rough week, and I thought it would be the perfect book to review for you all today.
